Who is she? Show me a photo. I’m really not that sure?
Agreeing due to shyness, it really seemed obscure.
She was to be his formal date, but to this it would be blind,
For he was yet to meet her, until he was in the McDonalds drive thru line.


 With a new found confidence, he made a second pass.
“I’m your formal date” he said….. feeling like an ass.
Pull over there for a minute, she said with her usual delight.
She brought free McDonalds, for this it was ALMOST “love at 1st bight”


The night drew upon them, to his prom she would appear,
But not before a few drinks, strangely for her it was a stubby of VB beer?
The night passed quite smoothly, although she stole a small Xmas tree,
At the nights end he tried for a kiss, but, “a tart I am not!”, said she.


With lives changing direction, they quickly parted ways.
Fleeting meetings over the years, would number only days.
‘Till finally they were both single, which they were both happy to remain,
No way do “I” want a relationship. I need a break! Are you insane?


Then along came a friend named Shannan, and unite the two did she.
As he walked in to greet her, she thought “How bloody hot is he!”
This is where the spark relit, no sleep did they get that night,
They talked until the sun came up, everything just felt right!


So as New Years Eve 2006 arrived , he finally got to steal his kiss.
He’d missed it at the formal, but 10 years wait was worth it for this!
A long distance relationship, phone calls, late nights in bed,
They couldn’t stand it anymore, he moved to SA to lay his head.


So it was to be on their anniversary, a plan he would concoct.
A surprise trip to the Gold Coast, to ride the Giant Drop.
With everything in place, they climbed onto the ride,
At the top before it dropped, he asked her to be his bride!


Hearing our little tale, you may be inclined to call it fate,
Or perhaps you believe it’s a tale that only God could create.
One thing I must tell you, that is when push comes to shove,
You’re invited to our engagement party, with my one true love!
